I have long contemplated writing this blog, and finally, today, decided to give it a go! I have lots of new beginnings to talk about…amongst them a relatively new academic position, a new baby, a new relationship with my post-partum body, and a new outlook on life!
I am excited, nervous, but mostly intrigued by what this world of blogging will add to my life. Most of all, I am eager to share my experience as an academic with a serious love of fashion (seriously, I love it!), as well as how it all stays in balance along with kids, a hubby, a household, and professional success.
Many more posts to come soon, but for now, this little bit to pique your interest and curiosity. 🙂
Until then, remain ‘Chic in Academia’ (or whatever your workplace may be)!
I can’t wait for more! 🙂

I too look forward to more! As the youngest prof in my dept. I see my personal style as an avenue for both expressing my youth and being taken seriously by my colleagues and students without blending in to the frumpy masses. I also look forward to your take on how to balance it all!

Thanks, Professorchic!! I hope that I am able to provide some useful information as I progress in my blog development! I love fashion and academia, so I do try to find as much balance as possible, while attempting to stay at the cutting edge of both. Thanks so much for your readership!

Congrats on your new blog! I’m gathering up my work wardrobe slowly. Too bad you don’t live in a place with winter. I need help with quality boots, flannel tights, etc. I’d love to wear my dresses through winter. I’m not a huge shopper (well, it’s ok online), hate having to go to a lot of different stores, so I hope you curate a bit for me. 🙂

Hi, QueSera! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog! We have a bit of a winter season here… Nothing significant, but it has been known to dip into the 30’s (or even a bit lower) some years. Anyhow, I can definitely put together a post detailing workwear for those who work in super cold climates! I will put it on my to-do list!
With regard to online shopping, I actually often prefer it! It can be harder to find amazing deals like one would find in the store. That said, it is still possible to get them and to put together a pretty amazing wardrobe without stepping foot in the store. I do often recommend that people go to the stores to try on the clothes and/or shoes to assess fit. Also keep in mind that often, if ordered through the store, shipping costs can be waived, so it will ship to your home for free. 🙂
Anyhow, I will definitely keep that post in mind and make it a point to post it soon! Thanks again for taking the time to read my blog and hope that you will continue to do so in the future!
