Pinspired Navy Work Outfits

Inspiration for my work outfits comes from many places, although Pinterest provides a great deal of inspiration on a daily basis.  I have an entire board dedicated to ideas/inspiration for my work outfits.  Since I surmise that not everyone who reads my blog has a Pinterest account, it behooves me to share some of my favorites with you in this post!  Here are some ideas for putting together outfits for work with a navy color palette.

Utility Vest, Jacket and Get Yo’ Fitness On Week 4

I think I have an olive green utility vest/jacket obsession.  I recently decided I HAD TO HAVE both a utility vest and utility jacket.  Both in olive green.  So, off I went.  I hunted both down and now am the proud owner of both items, with not too big of a dip in my bank account!

The first item I found was the utility jacket.  I first saw it on my friend Sarah of ShopsSRJ.  She wore it so casually and described it as the perfect ‘throw on and go’ jacket that, well, I had to have it!  So, I searched and searched and found the one below on eBay for $8.

I love the length, the slouchy sleeves, and the fact that it’s light enough to wear during the summer.  Layers are important during the summer, particularly when frequenting air-conditioned places.  This outfit I wore to a coffee date with girlfriends, followed by a little bit of shopping.  Notice I’m wearing slip-on shoes and clothing that is easily removed in case I need to try on clothes and shoes in a jiffy!  A girl’s gotta think ahead! 😉

Next, I hunted down the utility vest I could not get my mind off.  I found it during a grocery shopping trip to Target, because you know I can’t grocery shop at Target without perusing the clothing/shoes/accessories sections of the stores, haha.  So there is was, in its $30 glory.  They happened to have a $10 off coupon available that day, and I also used my Target Red Card, so in all, I saved $11.50.  Not too shabby!

I wore this outfit to the office and my office mates seemed to like it as much as I did!  I’ve pinned some other combinations on Pinterest in case you’re interested in buying and styling it other ways.  Find me on Pinterest here.

Thrifty Thursday’s – Calypso St. Barth’s Friends and Family Sale

There’s a great sale going on at Calypso St. Barth, so I just had to share it with you!  It began yesterday, October 22nd, but will run through Sunday, October 26th so there is still plenty of time to shop! 🙂  I was actually at Calypso St. Barth for the launch of the Friends and Family sale last night, offering styling tips and helping pick out pieces for the fall.  It was so much fun!  So, I thought I would do the same for you in this post. But first, let me tell you about my outfit of the night (aka #ootn).  I wore a pair of Calypso St. Barth sequin pants (currently on sale!) that I purchased a while back for next to nothing during another one of their sales:

In Birmingham, the launch of the Friends and Family sale also coincided with the Shop and Share event, hosted by the Junior League of Birmingham, with social media coverage by B-Metro magazine. I’ve shared my love for Calypso St. Barth with you all previously, and also mentioned how pricey the store can be.  I believe I also mentioned how amazing their sales can be too, though!  There are some fantastic items on sale now in stores, but also many that can be found online.  One of the things I like to do when shopping sales is to plan ahead and shop for the following year.  So, for example, there are some amazing summer items for sale at Calypso St Barth right now.  They are incredibly affordable after the Friends and Family, 25% off discount.  To save you some time, I’ve curated some outfit ideas for you!  Take a look at some of the “looks” I styled for you at three different price points:

1. Beach attire – Summer 2015: All under $30 before 25% off discount.

Otherwise, feel free to order on your own, online, using promo code FRIENDS14.  Let me know if you end up getting anything from the sale!  I’d love to hear about your bargain finds!!  Finally, for those of you wondering, the winner of the denim giveaway was announced on Instagram two weeks ago.  Congratulations to Nancy Wander!!
