Luxe for less at the Net-A-Porter Sale

We all know January is an amazing time to buy clothing at 50% or more off retail, so get your wallets ready!  Here is one of the sales you don’t want to miss.

Did you miss the Altuzarra for Target or regret not picking up some of their amazing work-to-girl’s-night-out pieces?  Fret not.  Check out these items that are less than $20!

Their shoe selection is also, as some would say – off the hook!  I’m coveting a few of these, but as I am resolving to save more money than I spend this year, these will have to remain on my birthday wishlist for now…which, btw is next month in case you were wondering and need ideas for a birthday gift! 😉  The shoes below are all 40-80% off!

And accessories…we can’t forget those!  I have obsessed over a snake print clutch for some time now, and although the one below is actually a laptop case, I went ahead and took the plunge and will see if I can make it double for a clutch.  I’ll keep you posted.  For now, it is well on it’s way to my doorstep!   Check out the other two items I found for under $30:

In conclusion, you’re welcome. 😉  Let me know below what you thought about these picks and/or what you decided to pick up for yourself!  Follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest to see how I end up styling the things I ordered.

Until next time!  Stay Chic!

Thrifty Thursday’s – Closet Remix

This past month, I didn’t shop a whole lot because I was saving my pennies for the Target/Altuzarra collaboration that debuted this past weekend.  I did end up getting a few items, though not the belts that I was coveting for oh, so long!  Sigh…  Anywho, as a result of my attempt to penny-pinch, I became somewhat creative with my wardrobe.

Sometimes, with clothing, you just have to think a bit outside the box.  Take for example this SheInside dress that I purchased eons ago:

Screen Shot 2014-09-18 at 10.26.27 PMIt is far too tight and short to wear to work.  Because I’m a mama of 2 kiddies, I also don’t really have too many places to wear it.  So, it had been sitting in my closet FOREVER!  It then occurred to me that it was fitted enough that I might be able to layer it and wear it under a skirt.  This J Crew Factory Skirt in Citrus Lime was one I thought would pair well with the black and white stripes:

I loved the result!  Check out the combination:

So, occasionally, I take bathroom selfies (*blushing*).  BUT, only because the light was amazing!!

And another look at the outfit during the Girl’s Night Out event at Gus Mayer, benefitting the Birmingham Humane Society.

Not too shabby, right?!  This combo would work with a long tunic as well, that is either too tight to wear alone, or too short to wear to work. 🙂

Here’s my second option for remixing items in your closet.  Layering a sleeveless top.  This next look was actually inspired by Sheryl Luke of the blog Walk in Wonderland.  She recently posted this outfit on Instagram, and I immediately knew I had to try to recreate it.  It occurred to me that I had a white shirt dress that  had been sitting in my closet for a LONG time; honestly, I don’t think I had ever worn it!  I purchased it at H&M for $10, but somehow always seemed to plain to wear alone:

Sheryl paired it with a cropped leather top and I just fell in love with the look:

So, I took a faux-leather peplum top I usually wear in the Fall, and paired it with my summer white shirt dress and voila!  The perfect way to remix items in my closet AND transition a summer dress into Fall!  Here’s a side by side of our outfits:

In case there’s ANY confusion about which is mine…I’m the one on the right. 😛

Here’s a closer look at the layering:

Fab Finds Friday!

Can you believe we are already 10 days into the new year?!  I can’t!!  Time flies when you’re having fun, right? 🙂

I am certain that, like most people, you may be engaged in upholding some new year’s resolutions, or have set goals for the year; unless of course, you are the wiser, and decided to just live your life the way you want to live it! Haha!

I did not actually resolve to do anything specific this year, but did join in on some fun on Instagram (IG).  One of my IG friends, Jen, started the #2014closetremixchallenge.  The idea is to NOT SHOP for ONE WHOLE MONTH!!!  AH!  I know; the idea of ME not shopping for an entire month seemed completely outlandish/impossible/flabbergasting, but I figured, eh, why not give it a try?

So, I am 10 days into not shopping, and to tell you the truth, I have yet to go through withdrawal!  I was scared to quit cold-turkey, but honestly, it has not been as bad as I anticipated it to be.  In fairness, it is probably helping that I am head deep into manuscript and grant writing, so I really HAVEN’T had the time to peruse my usual websites and step foot into my favorite stores.  But, I will say that it has helped me to better assess what is already in my closet; made me aware of the fact that I had several items with price tags still on them; and, that I had pieces of clothing and accessories that I love, but had not worn in years!  Perhaps I needed this challenge more than I imagined!  THEN, this happened…

Don’t worry, I didn’t fall off the challenge wagon!!  Instead, I opened my inbox this morning (btw, thanks Gmail for creating a tab for ‘Promotions’ so that all my store emails are in one place and not mixed in with my work emails!!) and was confronted with several emails from stores alerting me to their fab sales!!  Sigh.  Everyone said I would be crazy for vowing to not shop this month because the sales would be SO amazing.  Well, it turns out they were right!!

Anyway, just because I have vowed not to shop, doesn’t mean I should keep YOU from doing so!  So, as an act of public service, I figured I would put together a few of my favorites and pass them along to you!  I am, afterall, a giver. 🙂

Below are some of my picks (all items under $50, one as little as $2!!) based on the emails I received this morning.  Links are listed below the collage of items.  Credit to the incredibly stylish Marce (@lawyercouture) for the tip on the Ann Taylor Faux Fur Collar!  Of note, all the items are at least an additional 40% (discount applied at checkout)!  The only exception is the Lotus Boutique necklace (black stone necklace with red shirt), which along with other items on the site, will be on sale tomorrow during the flash-sale taking place from 10am-12pm CST! Use promo code FLASHSALE to get the discount! You heard it here first!!

Have fun shopping and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram for outfit styling inspiration for your new purchases!!

Have a great weekend!!
