Utility Vest, Jacket and Get Yo’ Fitness On Week 4

I think I have an olive green utility vest/jacket obsession.  I recently decided I HAD TO HAVE both a utility vest and utility jacket.  Both in olive green.  So, off I went.  I hunted both down and now am the proud owner of both items, with not too big of a dip in my bank account!

The first item I found was the utility jacket.  I first saw it on my friend Sarah of ShopsSRJ.  She wore it so casually and described it as the perfect ‘throw on and go’ jacket that, well, I had to have it!  So, I searched and searched and found the one below on eBay for $8.

I love the length, the slouchy sleeves, and the fact that it’s light enough to wear during the summer.  Layers are important during the summer, particularly when frequenting air-conditioned places.  This outfit I wore to a coffee date with girlfriends, followed by a little bit of shopping.  Notice I’m wearing slip-on shoes and clothing that is easily removed in case I need to try on clothes and shoes in a jiffy!  A girl’s gotta think ahead! 😉

Next, I hunted down the utility vest I could not get my mind off.  I found it during a grocery shopping trip to Target, because you know I can’t grocery shop at Target without perusing the clothing/shoes/accessories sections of the stores, haha.  So there is was, in its $30 glory.  They happened to have a $10 off coupon available that day, and I also used my Target Red Card, so in all, I saved $11.50.  Not too shabby!

I wore this outfit to the office and my office mates seemed to like it as much as I did!  I’ve pinned some other combinations on Pinterest in case you’re interested in buying and styling it other ways.  Find me on Pinterest here.

Put a Bow on it

One of the things I love most about fashion is that a single accessory can completely change the look of an outfit. Today’s outfit is a classic example.  I had planned to wear the top and skirt alone, but felt like something was missing.  Then…I put a bow it.

The bow is from Asos and is simply AH-maze-ing.  Love it and always get so many compliments on it!  It’s a bowtie, so there is no actual tying, which is perfect for me because I am bow-tying challenged. Below is the bow I purchased, along with other versions available on the website.

Aren’t they super fun??  A great alternative to the classic statement necklace.  Let me know if you end up purchasing any of these and how you decide to style it/them.  If you are on Instagram, feel free to tag me!  I’ll regram them on my personal instagram account in a outfit recap post. 🙂

Have a great weekend, friends!  Get lots of rest and remember to take some time away from technology to spend quality time with the ones you love.  ❤

Neutral Ground

I’m actively trying to rotate items in my closet and wear as many things that I own as possible.  Today’s outfit was a result of that attempt.  The top, believe it or not, had been sitting in my closet for 7 months!  My sister gave it to me for Christmas and sadly, it had just sat there…for months.  The skirt had been sitting in my closet for over a year, sadly.  Sigh.  Partly because I could not fit into it a few months ago, but also because I have a bad habit of not circulating my clothes often enough.  That ends today!

For those who love the shoes in this post, know that they are currently sold at a Marshall’s store near you!  They were $30, are super comfy, and a must-have for any professional wardrobe.  Highly recommend you get them if you don’t already own a pair! The pearl cluster necklace is also a must, in my opinion.  It’s classic, goes with so many things, and for $5 it’s a purchase you just cannot pass up.

Well, friends, hope you enjoyed this outfit recap!  Have a happy Tuesday and I look forward reading your comments in the comments section below!
