Last year, around this time, I purchased a leopard faux fur coat from the now non-existent Piperlime.com.  They were a sister online store to Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, etc.  Without going into much detail, and much to the dismay of many a fashionista, Piperlime shut down its servers some time last year leaving many to wander the internet in search for items they once carried.  Among them, the leoapard coat above.

I know what you’re thinking: She wore a leopard faux-fur coat to the office?!  Why, yes.  Yes, I did.  And you know why??  Because you only live once.  Tomorrow is not guaranteed.  So one might as well live fully!  As an academic, one also often spends a great deal of time focused on work–advancing science– and little time focused on having fun or going out. But, one can insert a little bit of fun into each day in different ways.  Mine just so happens to be via fashion.  My days are jam-packed with meetings, writing, and/or science in general.  When my work day is done, I move on to my kiddies and hubby.  Some days, it’s go-go-go until I pass out at bedtime (or maybe even after what is supposed to be bedtime).  But, having worn a fun outfit, or perhaps added a little sparkle to my eyeshadow, makes the day feel a little more special; even on days when the tasks are endless and there was little time for fun.
